Boxers or Briefs: Infertility Myths Busted

Boxer's - InfertilityIf you’re a guy, you must have probably heard about the great debate on whether you should wear briefs or boxers.

In fact, a lot of boxer manufacturers claim that it would be better to use a boxer because it does not increase the risk of infertility, unlike briefs.

Some studies also claim that briefs cause too much heat which leads to infertility.

Before we go into the details of the truths behind these claims, let’s clearly distinguish boxers from briefs

Boxers provide more freedom to your parts. There are actually various kinds of boxers – the boxer shorts and boxer briefs. Boxer shorts are just like shorts but meant to be worn underneath. Boxer briefs, on the other hand, provide a snug fit but covers the thigh area. Boxer fans love the freedom that boxer give them. Technically, boxers will let your man-pars breath.

Brief - InfertilityBriefs on the other hand are the traditional male underwear. Unlike boxers, briefs offer a snug fit. They keep your parts from dangling around which may feel uncomfortable especially if you’re pacing around every now and then or climbing the stairs.

Aside from that snug fit, briefs are easy to wear and make men look sexy by showing off their thighs and focusing on their hugeness.

The choice between boxers and briefs used to just delve around design and comfort. However, some studies claim that briefs will generate heat that can increase the risk for infertility. Aside from that, because briefs do not allow much movement for your genitals, blood flow is not promoted and stimulation is hindered. Because of these claims, some brief patrons have shifted towards using boxers instead.

However, the truth could never be farther away from these claims. Newer studies have proven that claims on briefs generating heat is simply exaggeration. In fact, there is not even a clear distinction on the heat generated between briefs and boxers.

There was only one study though that indicated that wearing tight underwear actually reduces the quality of the sperm. Although briefs are preconceived to be tighter compared to boxers, this does not necessarily mean that briefs, in general, causes infertility.

So, what really causes infertility in the very first place? According to medical observations, common causes of male infertility includes

  • bacterial infection
  • inflamed testes
  • genetic problems
  • diabetes
  • obesity
  • STDs
  • stress, age
  • radiation

Clearly, none of them could be linked back to the wearing of briefs and boxers.

We have these simple reminders for men who want to maintain their fertility:

  • Avoid being overweight
  • Stay away from cigarettes.
  • Maintain an active lifestyle
  • Eat healthy food
  • Be aware of your medications
  • Reduce your alcohol consumption

Infertility Boxers vs Briefs

Both briefs and boxers have their advantages and disadvantages. In terms of design and comfort, men will have their own preferences.

But, they should not use infertility as a reason in choosing boxers over briefs.

At the end of day, choose what makes you feel good. Maintain a healthy lifestyle and you’ll surely not have any problems on fertility.
